GARDENING, 2002

We chose to do things a bit different this year, as I am getting to the point where I can't keep up with the huge garden by myself, or even with the help of Lulu and Corky.  It's just too much.  This year, we intend to try to put in raised beds for gardening in the big garden next spring.  For this year, though, this is how we are gardening:

Tomatoes, peppers, and lettuce

Lettuce, tomatoes, and peppers.  Bud brought me the tomatoes, Shawn cleared and turned over the soil in the beds, and helped me plant the tomatoes.  Lee planted peppers, and I planted the lettuce.  (I think they knew I missed my garden this year)

Pat's grandmother sent us more strawberries from Illinois.  Shawn cleaned out all the tire beds and helped me plant the yellow watermelons.

A melon garden

Watermelon garden.  When these get bigger, we are going to try tomato cages around the vines to keep them safe from the weed eater.
